In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, I could not help myself in sharing about some of my favorite superfoods that have energy and libido boosting effects so you can get your lovin on. Superfoods are high nutrient dense plant-based foods. Your body will thank you for consuming them and its effects are quick to take on. Glowing skin, improved immune function, mental clarity, increased energy levels that carry into the bedroom are all good reasons to add them into your diet.

CACAO

Known as ‘Food of love’ is a legendary aphrodisiac. The Mayan king reputedly drank a vat of a special cacao drink to keep him active for his 300-strong harem. Cacao (raw chocolate) is abundant in nutrients such as a chemical called anandamide (the bliss chemical), and theobromine which both enhances brain function helping us to feel good. Being in a good state of mind is something that is vital for a blissful sex life, Cacao is the most bio-available source of magnesium, making it useful for the heart, brain and hormonal health, especially being that most of us are deficient in magnesium. deficiency leads to poor performance (and ill health). LOVE CHOCOLATE

INGREDIENTS

For the bark:

1 cup Organics Cacao Butter

6 Tbsp Raw Cacao Powder

4 Tbsp Pure Maple Syrup

2 Tbsp Maca

1/4 tsp Sea Salt

1 tsp Vanilla Extract

For the toppings:

1 Tbsp Crushed Pumpkin Seeds

2 Tbsp cup slivered Almonds, chopped

2 Tbsp Goji berries

1 ¼ Tbsp Bee pollen

sprinkle with more sea salt, course.

DIRECTIONS

Place the cacao butter in glass bowl. Use another larger bowl to fill with hot warm water and hold the bowl with cacao butter to soften and melt it without heating it to keep the energizing properties of these ingredients intact. Mix the rest of the ingredients in folding and blending by hand until smooth.

Pour melted chocolate mixture on a cookie sheet with parchment paper and top with the topping ingredients

Place in the freezer for 30 minutes or until solid.

Enjoy or store in the refrigerator.
